The D-day....and i Succeed!!

Finally the d-day was here and i was quite excited that il be getting my completion certificate. but the rains in the morning almost made it impossible to reach office. And the news channels added up to the terror of the rains that were happening in mumbai....they showed that the roads were blocked...all the train lines were jammed and the weather forecast said that the next 48 hours it would be raining a lot. I had already removed the thought of getting my bike from borivli today due to the rains but still called up the service centre and asked whether it was ready. I got a positive response....and i decided to go and collect the bike on saturday early morning. i almost gave up even going to office to collect my certificate. but at arnd 12.30pm the rain was minimal...and i gave it a thought to leave for office. I had to collect the certificate today only as from monday once college begins i wont be able to go to office to the the same. I got ready and left for the station. as soon as i got to the station..the train arrived....the train was scheduled at 11.30 and it came at 1pm so u can imagine how slow it was running. but i decided to just get on board and then let anything happen. but to my surprise it reach VT on time, it was a little crowded but manageable .I moved to a nearby stationery and got a pack of jotter refills to be put into the pens that i had bought to distribute to the employees who helped me with my project. i also collect a box of perk on the way. . i moved swiftly to my office before the rains started to increase. I reached office moved to the learning center, changed the refills of the pens..( i had new nice pens lying from a long time and the ink in their refills had dried up). I gave one pen to Mr. Parab, who was the incharge of learning center during my tenure there. i moved to my mentor. he wasnt at his place. i decided to meet all the other employees and bid them an aideau. I met Mr. Tuscano ( My proof reader and the sir who helped me with the printing process of my project)....i gave him the pen and the chocolate. he first refused but i insisted. i met all the people related to my project right from the people who made me feel comfortable on my first day to the office boy who served my breakfast, lunch , snack, tea...etc....and then i was ready to meet my Sir. he greeted me with a mile. i showed him the rectified report. he was happy. he asked me to check soft copy of my certificate that was on his computer screen and i was delighted. i gave my acceptance and he gave me the certificates....3 copies. he wished me luck for my future endevours... i gave him a special pen i had bought and a chocolate. he did not accept the pen but he took the chocolate, i insisted on him to keep it as me remembrance but he said he would take one after i got my final placement done. with that i was there standing on my departments floor for the last time. i wished everybody good bye and off i was to the 7th floor to meet Roselina ma'am,who was the head of the training department. she was a little busy doing some work. so by the time i went to Ruth Ma'am, another person who helped me out with the joining process on my first day. I met roselina ma'am, showed her the report...and i was stunned when she asked me a few questioned on my report...but kudos to my hard work nothing was copy paste so i could answer quite confidently and accurately. She gave her acceptance, i gave here a chocolate and even she gave me a chocolate in return. she was the last person i met at HPCL. i collected all my stuff. put my certificates carefully in my bag. and came down to the lobby. On the exit was an uncle who wanted to go to his car but dint have an umbrella as it was raining . i gave him shelter in my umbrella and dropped him to the parking and into his car. i moved my way back and got towards the station. i was just hoping that the trains were running on time. and to my surprise they were. i got into a train halted on platform No1. which was to leave at 4.36pm. it started off on time. i reached home all happy. even called up a few frens and close ones to let them know my achievement.....and my internship was over. after that i spent the evening doing some surfing on my new laptop....strummed my guitar for quite a while....and then it was the usual...talking on the phone...chatting with mom.....till now....writing my blog..!!!!! its time for the Mgmnt Gyaan...

Mgmnt Gyaan no1: All is well that ends well
Mgmnt Gyaan no2: never forget to thank even a single person who was of help to you...it is important...!

Project approved...but something has to be removed!!!!

I was a little tensed when i got up today. The tension was regarding to my Project approval that was to take place today. I had made the little changes that i was asked to do and had also put in my Findings and Recommendations about my work that i did at HPCL. But i was a little dicey about the recommendations. As i was not really sure that it can be actually implemented or no. I still made my mind and got ready to go to office for the project approval. had a quick lunch at 1pm and left for office. Reached at 2pm. Sat on a couch in the lobby and did a few last minute tweeks to my project......and finally got some confidence and walked towards my Sir's Cubicle. He was there doing some urgent work. but this time he saw me before i said anything...he asked my to sit and show him the findings and the recomms. I had two recommendations the first one was related to the Technical collaborations with banks and the other one was related to having multiple accounts for employees to work on the JDE platform. I thought sir would give me a look whihc said " yeh ka bas daalne k liye kuch bhi daalne ka kya??? " but to my surprise he was soo happy to see my first recommendations. he said this can be of immense help to the organisation and gave me an assurance that he will raise this point in the next departmental meet. But he opposed my 2nd recomm and said there was something that was untrue. And asked me to remove it and get 2 hard copies...submit it and i could collect my completion certificate. I was soo delighted...i moved on to the learning centre ( our works station for 2months) opened my laptop and started working on the changes. Paid emphasis on the formatting part. gathered all the files that had to be printed and moved to the 2nd floor where a verry helpful employee named Mr. Tuscano Gonsalo worked. I approached him and said "i need a few print outs can u provide them to me.." he smiled and said "sure". i gave him my pendrive and he plugged t into his CPU. he opened the files copied it onto hi desktop and opened the first file. he made a little formatting changes that made the file look much better. he did that for all my files and also got up over and over again to move to a printer which was placed almost 3cubicles away from his desk to check the prints....he taught m formatting as he did it onto my files. i started to collect thr files from the printer. he noticed i was having a hrd time holding those loose papers. he opened his drawer and gave a file ....i used it ..and it made things more manageable. After it the printing was done he suggested me to go to a nearby stationery to get my prints spiral bound. I moved quickly as it was almost 5pm...i got the things spiral bound...it was 5.15pm...i got to my sir ....he read the copy...and got to me...and he pointed out that one of the things he had suggested was not removed from the findings part...and i told him sir the change was a minor one and i could hide it somehow. he said on il mail the training dept and ask them to make your certificate. He looked at the watch it was 5.25pm..and the training dept was on its Pack up mode. he asked me to come tomorrow to collect my certificate. i got home asap...and quite happy s i was done with my project. mad the necessary changes with the indian JUGAAD thing. and now ready to go to office tomorrow for the submission and also to collect my certificate...!!!!!!

Mgmnt Gyaan : Its never over till its the end.
Mgmnt Gyaan : If you keep up good relations...you can cut on cost ....( Mr. Tuscano giving me 3copies of my project almost 180 pages...for no cost)
Mgmnt Gyaan: When you put your efforts in the right direction...the outcome is appreciated.( My Report)
Mgmnt Gyaan: think twice before you speak...but read 5times before you print....( got a little glitch in the findings after i printed three copies and spiraled them)

Trouble always comes Unplanned !!!!

It was a nice rainy day as i got up from my bed. Dad and mom were to leave for Pen ( a little village known for their ganapati idols) to select our Ganapati 2011. I could not go as i had a meeting at Bandra with a person who has worked in the Bank and said he could give me a few inputs for my summer project. As mom n dad left i went for a quick bath and got ready to leave. the meet was scheduled at around 1pm and it was 11.30. i with my bike's helmet in my hand just about to unlatch the door....suddenly witnessed a huge downpour. It raind as if it has never rained before and it became dark....real dark. I gave off the though of leaving and sat on my couch reading the editorial of The Hindu. it rained quite continuously . As the rains subsided i picked up my helmet and off i was on my bike to Bandra. I reached and met the person....he gave me some real quality information that i could put into my project. I called up one of my frens, Neha who hailed at Borivli...and told her about my meet with Mr. Sawant. Neha said that she had a book that would help me to get through my project. I made up my mind to go to Borivli and collect the book. I pushed the starter of my bike and off i was..Riding in the rains has always been an excitement for me....but as i reached Jogeshwari it started raining quite heavily...but i gave off the though of taking shelter and planned to move on. As i crossed Bridges after Bridges, i was quite conscious as to which is the bridge which i dont have to take to reach borivli. i asked a few rickshaw guys and confirmed my way. I got the signal from which i were to enter Borivli. i moved on to reach the Link road which was my destination. I stopped at a signal and dont know how my Bike's engine got killed. I tried to put it to life but only the ignition gave sounds but the bike dint start. The first thought...." am i out of fuel "....i asked a rickshaw guy for the nearest petrol pump and he said it was near by. I dragged my 160kg ZMR to the petrol pump. I filled in Rs.200 worth petrol pump and was quite sure it would be enough to start off my bike. i shut the petrol tank and tried the starter.....to my surprise IT DINT start.!!!!! i was in a fix...dint know what to do. I asked the petrol pump guy if some Mechanic could look into the matter ....and found one 4-wheeler mechanic and he said he can try...he saw a few parts...checked them ans tried to start the engine but no response from the bike. He told me there was a lane nearby where i could find a few bike mechanics. My dragging journey began...i moved through signals and carz and bikes and crossed lanes running alongside my bike. Reached the lane and found a Yamaha service centre....i wondered if he could help me..my bike being of another brand. but he was one of the most helpful person i have ever met. He tried all the possible things but said that, the bike has to be opened and he suggested me to visit a Hero Honda Service Center. For a last attempt he sent one of his service mechanics to push start the bike but all in vain. I thanked him for his kindness and moved to the HH SVC. it was quite a long distance. I asked for the address and finally reached a HH showroom. i stopped by to ask where the SVC was. A person approached me and i explained what the matter was. He insisted on trying once.....he just switched on the bike and pushed the starter.....And the engin came to life..!!!! i was shocked and moreover looked like an idiot who dragged a bike almost for a kilometre to find that his bike was alright. But i still visited the SVC and told the SVC mechanic to look into the matter. he said it must be some water that must have made its way to the fuel tank....and it was a minor issue ...and asked me to go for a ride and see if it happened again. I thought a little ride would be Neha's place to collect the book. It was quite a long ride from the SVC to Neha's place as i reached her lane my bike gave up and the same problem all over again. I collected the book from her and said i should leave for the SVC. My journey for the SVC Began....it was arnd 2.30pm...i reached the SVC completely drenched...but this time with sweat and not with rain. I told him my saga with my bike. He said that he can look into the matter. He told me...." sahaab problem aisa hai na ke is bike mein....choke nahi hai...furl cock nahi hai....kick lever bhi nahi hai....toh sab kholna padta hai..."...i said.." abay kuch bhi nahi hai toh itna paisa kyon liya merese yeh bike k liye...."...he smiled and said " technology"....i answered.." mera 13saal purana splendor bhi hai...kabhi bhi dhakka nahi marwaya merese..." he could not answer much... And asked me if i also wanted a servicing done to my bike. I was already left with 3 services and only 3months in hand to get them done. I agreed and i was told that i would get my bike on friday. There i was with a Helmet and Windcheater in my hand walking to the station. i reached the station got a Dadar fast local. Reached dadar, walked my way till the bus stop which was another a 500 mts walk. luckily got a 5 no bus which got me down directly to the nearest bus stop from my residence. I reached home and took a sigh of relief. And thought about all the mgmnt lessons i learnt from my drag race today....and got a lot of them.....which follow.

Mgmnt Gyaan no1. Trouble strikes only when you feel everything is all right.

project approved but SOMETHING is missing....

Finally it was 5pm and i moved quickly to my mentor. he was on a call so i waited ....and waited ....and waited.....just to kill some time i went to the cooler and had a glass full of cold water...and when i was back sir was done with his call.....and i just did not wait another second and asked..." Excuse me sir....." he turned and asked me to sit down and did not give a pleasing look....i asked if he had a little time so i could show him my report he said " not really im a little buzy.." before he could complete i told him i would just need a few mins of his so he could see my report and approve it. he had to agree. i opened my laptop which i had put on hibernate so i dint waste a lot of time. He carefully moved through my pages and gave a little inputs as he scrolled down. then at the end he said that i need to put in some recommendations to the report....and there i was in a fix....and said to my self " hummm..i need assistance from you sir for the recommendations..." but on my face i could not ask much but yes i did tell him that i will try my level best to provide some recommendations to improve the bank reconciliation process...'the project i was working upon'. and my mind started off as i uttered my last word....i went to IT...i thot if information Technology comes into the picture most of the problems in the reconciliation process will curb. But i did not break out my idea to him. i wished him good evening and moved for the exit. Along my wayto the station  i discussed it with few of my frens over the phone, all of them gave a positive response to my thoughts. i got into a crowded train. reached home. and started to ponder how i could implement the system inot HPCL's reco process......and finally came to the consensus that i should give it a break for some time and stop thinking abt work.I did a lot of time pass all the while....played the guitar, ate sev puri,etc.....now that my mind has started working as i write this blog i think i should get to work and start improvising my ideas and make it something that can be implemented but the only shortfall is the lack of information whether IT will really be able to do what im thinking....for that il have to consult a few of my frens intoIT and then lets see how it works.......anyway it's time for the MGmnt Gyaan for this post....and it follows...

Mgmnt Gyaan: When you are into management...nothing is enough.....!!! there are instances when you get applauds and at the end a comment...." it could have been better..." ...lolzzz...enjoy..!!!!

Resume blogging.

Hi pals, i have finally started to blog once again. although i havent blogged quite frequently even i the past but yes i tend to blog now on quite a regular interval as i have an increasing number of prospective followers.
Yesterday was officially my last day as an intern at HPCL but had to turn up in office even today as i had to get my report approved from my project head and then submit a copy of my report and collect my completion certificate. i reached office at 11am and met my mentor and i was asked to meet him at 5pm and there i was....a little confused as to what would i be doing till 5pm....its 4pm now lets see how another hour passes. just praying to god that my project get approved and i can make the submission atleast tomorrow.

Mgmnt Gyaan: when your are on the learning curve and a subordinate to someone......you cannot revolt much but just have to follow the rules laid donw by your superiors, whether you like it or you dont.....rules are rules....and you are not eligible to break them at any COST....!!!!!

just begenning with the blog once again from today!!!

id thought of jotting down all my experiences from my first day but i thought tht it wud be a big task recollecting what ive learnt and taught as a mgmnt student...so i begin posting my life as a mgmnt student from today .....

i had to get up early as we had LAW lecture today and i had already missed many law lectures in a the past and so had to attend this one for sure.....got myself ready asap and then thot of getting onto my byk (snowy) instead of the local train. i rchd the institute at 7.37 and the lecture was scheduled at 8. met a few frens who were buzy doing their HRM assingment. it was 8 and the lecture began and as usualy rajan sir in his own unusual way but a ver interesting way started to teach us and it was a very interesting lecture. in between he used to tease a few students of the class and jayesh being on his hot list. after the law lecture it was shiji maam to continue after a 30min break with HRM as the lecture began maam as usual very angrily began to punish the students who did not do their assingments.....its a good practise i feel. the HRM lecture was followed by LAW again ( a surprise lecture) and then by DS. all in all i felt the day was good and complete and as everyday. But as i was leaving the class after the ds LECTURE...karthik came to me and said tht i was shortlisted for the HPCL interview tht was to be conducted on the coming monday....and then i was on cloud 9...but felt bad as none of my gang boys got selected....then a little time spent with frens and then in the library.....then off to home i was along with ritesh on snowy!!!!!
